why we exist
Our purpose is to bring about community-level change and rally around a common purpose. The main goal is to reduce alcohol and drug use by young adults, resulting in healthier adults and safer communities.
TODAY'S YOUTH ARE THE FUTURE OF OUR COMMUNITIES
The Steuben Prevention Coalition has been identifying the need to address the dangers of Under Age Drinking and Marijuana use by our youth since 1991 partnering with organizations such as Hornell Concern for Youth, Family Services Society, Steuben Council on Addictions and the Director of Steuben County Community Services.
The Coalition became a Drug Free Communities funded organization in 2013 and in that time we have successfully seen achievements and progress through the passing of the Social Host Law, the implementation of the Steuben County TIPS Line and the implementation of prevention and education programs in our schools.
Our Coalition goal is to continue to educate our youth and our communities on the dangers associated with under-age drinking and marijuana use by implementing strategies that will lead to cultural change and have a positive impact on our youth today.
While our efforts to provide a drug free community has seen progress and increased awareness, we still have a lot of work to do. We hope that you will join us and become a partner for change in our community.
